Legal / Website + Layerr
Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
This policy covers two things: this website, and Layerr, the closet and outfit app made by Jon Miller ("I", "me"). It explains what happens to your information when you use either.
The short version
- Neither the website nor Layerr asks you for an account, and neither has ads, analytics or tracking.
- Layerr doesn't collect your data. Nothing you add is sent to me, and I don't run any servers for it.
- Your closet lives on your device, and in your own iCloud if you use it.
- The website sets no cookies. It remembers your light or dark theme in your own browser.
Part 1 — This website
What the site collects
Nothing that identifies you. There are no forms, accounts, comments, analytics or advertising on this site.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare handles that under its own privacy policy. I don't use that information to identify or profile visitors.
Fonts
The site's typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google describes how it handles this in its Google Fonts privacy information.
Your theme preference
If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same next time. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. See the Cookie Policy for details.
If you email me
If you get in touch, I'll see your email address and whatever you write, and I'll use it only to reply. You can ask me to delete the conversation at any time.
Part 2 — Layerr
What Layerr stores, and where
Layerr keeps what you add to the app so it can show it back to you:
- Clothing items: photos, names, categories, colors, sizes, tags, and optional details like where you got a piece and what you paid.
- Outfits and wear history: saved outfits, the days you logged them, streaks, and laundry status.
- Trips and packing lists.
- Your settings: things like your theme, app icon, and reminder preferences.
All of this is stored on your device. It is never sent to me or to anyone else.
iCloud sync
If you're signed in to iCloud, Layerr uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your closet across your devices and keep a copy for you. That data sits in your private iCloud database. It's handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and I can't see it or access it.
To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Layerr in the Settings app on your device.
Permissions Layerr asks for
- Camera: only to photograph your clothes, and only when you choose to take a photo.
- Photos: Layerr uses Apple's photo picker, so it only ever receives the photos you choose. It can't see the rest of your library.
- Notifications: optional reminders, such as when laundry is piling up or a piece hasn't been worn in a while. These are scheduled on your device. No notification data goes to me.
You can change any of these at any time in the Settings app.
Widgets
Layerr's Home Screen widgets show information from your closet. Your data passes between the app and its widgets only on your device.
Sharing
When you share something from Layerr, such as an outfit card, a stat card or your Year in Review, it goes only where you send it through the standard iOS share sheet. Whatever app you share to handles it under its own privacy policy.
What Layerr doesn't do
- It doesn't collect, store or give me access to your personal information.
- It doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- It doesn't include third-party tracking or analytics code.
- Your data isn't sold or shared, because I never have it.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings → Reset Wardrobe deletes everything you've added.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device.
- Your iCloud copy can be deleted in the Settings app under your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Layerr.
Children
Neither the website nor Layerr collects personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
